Hiring Offshore VAs & Teams FAQs | Three Peaks International

Got some questions? Let us give you answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that will help you get started.

We go through a Mapping process with you to find out more about your business, what you need, and how a VA will be able to help out. We then provide preliminary information based on what we’ve gathered in the mapping process to help you make an informed decision. This step is non-obligatory and we find that this step provides a complete and accurate picture on what to expect when engaging Three Peaks International to handle your virtual staffing needs.

Typically, on an ongoing monthly basis, you only pay the remuneration of the virtual staff plus our agency fee. There are one off fees during the recruitment stage as well as other additional services. However all costs are disclosed at the Mapping process for full transparency.

Our minimum commitment period is 6 months. The rationale being in Australia, the typical probation period when hiring an employee is 6 months in order for the employee to familiarise themselves with the business and vice versa. The same is applicable when onboarding a virtual assistant or an offshore team.

We provide guarantees for all our VAs. Should you find that a candidate is not a fit for the role or the business, we can replace the said VA for free within the 6 month period. To manage this, we implement a 3 month probationary period per VA to have an indication if we would need to start sourcing a replacement.

Nearly all our VA’s are in the Philippines. However we have a few VA’s that are based in countries in South East Asia region as we find VA’s located in said countries can support Australian businesses similar to the Philippines in terms of time difference, cost savings and competency base.

Most of our VA’s are Work From Home (WFH) professionals as we find that this presents significant cost savings to our clients. However part of our candidate screening process is we vet the candidate’s work space at home, their broadband capabilities as well as the noise levels. This ensures that virtual assistants still have a standard of professionalism they adhere to. We do however offer the option of hybrid working arrangements or full time in the office. This is because we have established relationships with coworking space providers that can easily help us scale up when we need.

Typically 2 weeks depending on the role. However we keep our clients updated throughout the recruitment process so if sourcing will take longer, our clients are definitely informed during this time.

Similar to hiring a VA, we also go through a Mapping process with you to find out more about your business, what type of worker you need and the corresponding occupation the employee will be sponsored as. We then provide you preliminary information which includes the occupation, the costs of sponsorship, the relevant timeframes and such. This step is non-obligatory and provides an accurate picture of what you need to know if you want to recruit and sponsor an employee from overseas.

That’s great! But before we get carried away, we do need to go through some checks to ensure that the business is eligible to become a Standard Business Sponsor (SBS) and the person you have in mind actually has the right qualifications, skills and experience in order to be suitable for the nominated occupation and sponsorship. Just keep talking to us and we’ll guide you through the process.

Offshore staffing involves engaging skilled professionals overseas who work remotely as part of your business, following your systems, processes, and working hours. At Three Peaks International, this allows Australian businesses to access a broader talent pool, reduce employment and overhead costs, and scale efficiently without the complexity of international hiring—delivering a flexible, compliant, and cost-effective workforce that supports sustainable growth.

AI will not replace accounting and controlling roles overnight, but will progressively automate transactional tasks first, while judgement-based roles evolve rather than disappear. In developed economies, routine accounting functions are already being automated, with major changes expected over the next 3–7 years, while senior roles continue to focus on oversight, compliance, and advisory work. In offshore and emerging markets, automation is likely to occur earlier, shifting roles from manual processing to AI supervision and higher-value financial support. At Three Peaks International, we help businesses adapt to this shift by combining offshore talent and automation to build future-ready, cost-effective teams.

Offshore staffing is commonly used for roles that can be delivered remotely, are process-driven, or require specialised skills that are costly or difficult to source locally—such as technology, finance, customer support, marketing, administration, and technical support functions. At Three Peaks International, we help businesses identify the right roles to offshore and build dedicated team members who integrate seamlessly into local operations, supporting scalability, cost efficiency, and long-term growth.

Offshore recruiting companies act as a bridge between businesses and global talent, helping source, vet, hire, and manage overseas professionals who work remotely as part of the client’s team. While companies use offshore recruitment to build distributed teams, US and UK citizens also find work through these models as remote professionals in global teams where skills matter more than location. At Three Peaks International, we focus on building dedicated offshore team members with full transparency, compliance, and long-term role stability—supporting scalable growth for businesses and sustainable remote careers for professionals.

Hiring purely on the lowest price is often a false economy. Offshore recruiting delivers the best results when providers focus on quality, role fit, integration, and long-term reliability rather than cost alone. At Three Peaks International, we prioritise best-fit hiring over lowest-cost outsourcing—building dedicated offshore team members who integrate into your workflows, meet clear performance standards, and deliver stronger long-term ROI.

There is no single “best” offshore recruiting firm for every business—the right partner depends on your industry, roles, and whether you need long-term integrated team members or short-term staffing. At Three Peaks International, we specialise in building dedicated offshore teams that operate as an extension of your business, focusing on quality hiring, cultural alignment, transparent pricing, and ongoing support. This approach delivers stronger reliability, retention, and scalable growth than price-led recruitment alone.

There isn’t a single “best” offshore job portal in Australia, as many offshore roles—especially in oil & gas, marine, and technical sectors—are filled through direct employer recruitment or specialist recruiters rather than public job boards. While general and niche job sites can help with visibility, relying on portals alone often limits access to opportunities. At Three Peaks International, we help candidates and businesses navigate offshore recruitment beyond job boards by connecting talent through structured recruitment pathways, not just online listings.

Fraud does exist in offshore recruitment for oil and gas roles—particularly targeting international candidates seeking entry-level positions such as rigging or roustabout work. Common red flags include requests for upfront fees, guarantees of offshore jobs without interviews, fake or cloned company details, and pressure to act quickly. Legitimate offshore employers do not charge candidates for employment and recruit through official channels or recognised partners. At Three Peaks International, we promote transparent recruitment practices and encourage candidates to verify employers carefully and avoid any agency requesting payment for offshore work.

The biggest concerns with offshore development are usually related to setup and management rather than talent quality. Common risks include communication gaps, inconsistent quality standards, cultural differences, lack of accountability, knowledge loss, and security or IP concerns. These issues are significantly reduced when offshore developers are treated as embedded team members with clear ownership, strong onboarding, documented processes, and outcome-based expectations. We address these risks through role-fit hiring, long-term team stability, and structured integration—turning offshore development into a reliable driver of growth rather than a source of risk.
